Frequently Asked Questions

It’s actually a very common issue when polyolefins are exposed to high heat during extrusion, the material naturally starts to degrade, leading to gels and eventual burning. A great way to stop this cycle is by adding an Polygard® masterbatch. It acts as a shield to retard degradation and keep the resin stable. If you are looking for a fix, our team can help you look at your processing temperatures and supply an Polygard® blend tailored to clean up your line.

Die lines are usually caused by melt fracture, material buildup (clogged dies), or physical wear on the die lips.

  • For melt fracture, incorporating our Flo-aid® at a low let-down ratio (around 1%) can effectively smooth out the flow and eliminate the lines.
  • For clogged dies, running Hi-Purge® purging compounds will efficiently clean out burnt particles and contamination. Following up the purge with a processing aid is a great way to prevent future degradation and keep the line clean.

If you are dealing with these defects, we can help you set up a trial with our processing aids and purging compounds to clean up your film profile.
